Rachel E. Thomas

The combination of being a documentary photographer and collage artist gives me the ability to uniquely illustrate and personalize the stories that I tell. Similar to a puzzle, I piece components together to create a whole that’s personalized to my subject matter; I gather inspiration from their surroundings and interests. Having a background in fine art has allowed my imagination to reach those depths. My work centers around culture, celebration, activism, pride and intimacy. I’m currently pursuing my BFA in photography at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. To date, I have editorial illustrations published on InStyle.com, collages published by the Humble Arts Foundation (HAF) and photography published by VOX.
