Directors of four in-progress documentaries will show scenes from their Works-in-Progress at this event, which is being co-presented by Facing Change: Documenting Detroit in partnership with Freep Film Festival and Planet Ant Training Center.
This event is FREE but you must RSVP! These Detroit filmmakers will discuss their movies and filmmaking careers, and show scenes from their upcoming films.
Kathy Kieliszewski, the Free Press director of visuals and Freep Film Festival artistic director, and Doug Blush, part of the team of Oscar-winning documentary Icarus, will moderate the event's discussion. The lineup:
- Filmmakers Razi Jafri and Justin Feltman: “Hamtramck, USA” explores multiculturalism and how it transforms the community.
- Wayne State University professor and filmmaker Juanita Anderson, and Detroit legend Marsha Music (Marsha Battle Philpot): "Hastings Street Blues”
- Filmmaker Andrea Claire Morningstar: “Love and Struggle: The James and Grace Lee Boggs School Story”
- Freep Film Festival alum and “Land Grab” director Sean O’Grady: “Today’s Tomorrow”
