Lauren Santucci is a documentary photographer based in Detroit. She is interested in forced migration and refugee issues, with the goal of humanizing these global issues through personal stories. Raised by her Belgian mother and Italian-American father, her work is shaped by her own immigrant background, her studies in migration and conflict, and her experience providing aid in refugee camps in Greece and Serbia.
Santucci is a 2018 Facing Change: Documenting Detroit Fellow and holds an M.A. International Relations and Art History from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
Building upon Detroit's long history of migration of hosting refugees, there is a growing community of asylum-seekers from the African continent rebuilding their lives and finding rich opportunities.
