Documenting DETROIT at the DIA!

Documenting Detroit and the Detroit Institute of Arts present a multimedia slideshow of the work of our 21 Fellows on Friday, September 23, running at 8:00pm and 9:30pm. The slideshow will be projected onto the southeast wall of the Detroit Institute of Arts (between the John R and Farnsworth entrances). The event is FREE and OPEN to the public—please bring a blanket for the lawn!

Documenting Detroit's 21 photographers have been making diverse images detailing daily life in our city for the past three months, covering many different subjects including: their own families; automotive culture; the Latino diaspora in Southwest Detroit; food deserts; portraits inside nightclubs; Belle Isle; Detroit City Football Club; spirituality among Muslim communities; Del Ray and the impact the Gordie Howe Bridge will have on residents of the area; families who are part of Clark Park Coalition; the Nation of Islam; portraits of Black youth ages nine to 22; students at an alternative public high school, and much more.
