Alexandre da Veiga
Born in Portugal, 1990, to an West African (from Guinea-Bissau) mother. In 2010 moved to the United States of America and found my raison d'être, photography. In Boston, spent 4 years shooting live music and street photography, which led me to move to Detroit in the Summer of 2015 to focus on documenting the city and develop and hone the skills to become a photojournalist.
'Urban Farming in Detroit'
This project was focused on a couple of urban farmers in the city, Dr. Bob from the Psychedelic Healing Shack and the couple that runs Ile Ibeji farm, Atieno Nyar Kasagam and Lorenzo Heron. It also features some of the people that live in the emptiest neighbourhoods in the city, the preferred area for urban farming.
